The internet is most certainly not going anywhere, it'll just keep getting bigger and bigger. Unless of course all electronic technology gets destroyed by a massive solar flair, but we'd have bigger problems then, like the collapse of modern society and loss of our atmosphere :p

(note, this is a sarcastic joke, to those who can't tell)

The internet is DEFINITELY not going anywhere- it is way too embedded in society. Just google the internet of things to see where the next step is.

Yep, internet in everything all the time everywhere. I actually think IoT is slightly creepy/annoying/overkill, despite the fact a major idea/project I have that is pretty much an IoT thing.

People claim the internet will not go away, but they said the same thing about cars and TV.

I think people will stop looking at screens within 20-30 years.

The only way the internet will go away is if it is replaced by a better version of the internet, still kind of the internet. Either that or it'll go along with everything else in the great collapse that awaits humanity in the next 30-80 years if we don't get off this rock.

Indeed, screens are almost completely obsoleted though I think there's a lot to be said for their impact on literacy as a whole. As someone who develops UIs in his spare time, I'm not too worried about this but I can say without trepidation that it will look VERY different by then.

Actually the internet will be around 30 years from now. In the year 2046, we will be watching old Youtube videos from the early 2000s. And watching porn back from the early 2000s. That means if you made a sex tape and it got uploaded to a porn site and its somewhat popular, your children might accidentally find it 20 to 30 years later.

Hey look kids, there's your mom getting f****d by her college boyfriend back in the year 2015!

Which is why i'm never uploading a sex tape, unless she really wants to. I don't even have a girlfriend anyways.

Never. The internet is slowly taking over the world. In 20 years time or more, lots of places will become ghost towns because a very large number of people will be doing almost everything online instead of going out to the shops or to the bank, etc.
