There has been a lot of forum activity regarding aspies and glasses so I decided to conduct a survey.

I've been wearing glasses since I was 12.

I don't associate glasses with Asperger's at all. Many "NT's" wear glasses.

There was a stigma attached to wearing glasses in the old days. Not so these days.

How many people on the spectrum that need vision correction use contacts?

Or rather, I would like to consider contacts, but I don't know if I can put up with them.

I have been wearing glasses since I was 13. I was in 7th grade and was having a hard time seeing the chalkboard from the back of the classroom, hence the need for glasses.

I think I've had glasses since I was 14. But my sight actually got worse very fast for some reason. My sight was pretty bad when I got my first glasses (-1D both eyes, I didn't know how to tell my parents I couldn't see) but I lost just under a diopter within 6 months. It's stabled out now though. :D I remember going back and not being able to see any of the letters on the chart without my glasses. They had to scroll it up to get really big letters. And when they started to find the proper lenses where there is the red and green circles I swear I said "red" about 20 times. Really was a shock when they said my prescription had doubled because I hadn't noticed 8O

Only for reading in dark places (such as a fine print menu in a dimly lit eatery) for a few years now. They're the small-lensed "librarian" type that allows you to look over the tops to see off in the distance. Once I can schedule time for cataract surgery I shouldn't need them anymore for a long time.

Old geezer here. Both near-sighted and far-sighted. Astigmatism, too.

When I was younger they used to call me "four eyes." After I got glasses they started calling me "eight eyes."

I don't need prescription ones but I frequently wear dark sunglasses, even when the weather is not sunny. I feel less exposed when I wear them and I find it easier to make eye contact with others.

I wore glasses from age 5 to 12. I stopped because ostracization by peers in middle school. I probably should start wearing glasses, though an optician has stated my vision is sufficient for not needing correction. The primary reason I can't seem to get myself to wearing them again is because the way they feel on my head.

They are complete idiots who don't know basic math. If you have 4 eyes and 2 lenses count as eyes they should have called you 6 eyes, it's additive not multiplicative.
