I notice that a lot of time I am not pleased with my expression in photos, I look either mad in a way or just uncomfortable I guess. I thought I was getting a little bit better with that but I looked at some recent photos I took of myself and hated every single one of them. I have like a 1/20 hit ratio for getting a selfie I like, and I hardly take selfies so I have very little, or none, that I like.

Most of my pictures feature me doing something weird with my face. Lately I've been making a conscious effort to look at the camera during photos, and the results have been hilariously terrifying. Apparently, I have two levels of eye contact, zilch and wide-eyed lunatic. Other times, when I am in a good mood or pleasantly neutral, I'll actually appear kind of pissed off in photos.

I just acknowledge that I look hideous in almost all photos ever and then ... just say oh well from there. I can't change it, and I would rather not forever avoid photos. I don't really take selfies though- I forget I even have them.

Hahah! wide-eyed lunatic. I have naturally really big eyes ... they aren't a good thing I just weird people out instead of having like a "wide-eyed" prettiness or whatever.

My facial expression in almost every single photograph taken of me is absolutely horrifying to look back on. I cannot take a good picture to save my life, no matter how hard I try.

I'm sorry, but that's really funny the way you guys are talking about it lol. So I guess it's not uncommon then to look like a weirdo in photos if you're an aspie, that's good :). I also have really big eyes too, I can relate to " zilch and wide-eyed lunatic" levels of eye contact :p

Practice.
Not looking stupid in a photograph can be learned.

In most of the photos I'm in I seem to be looking in a completely different direction to everyone else. Maybe it's the flash of the camera that makes me look away right as the photo is taken? Uncertain.

And don't even get me started on the pictures where I'm trying to look "sexy."

I don't look really weird--but I'm not photogenic at all. I always look like I'm at least 10 pounds heavier than I am.

Yes, but I blame the photographer for half of the times though. A lot of people who seem to think they're good photographers seem to be challenged with their cameras.

I always think I look weird in photos, but other people don't seem to think so.

I'm usually not very photogenic. My eyes usually look really droopy. I also have a strange posture in some photos.

I notice if I try to force a smile it looks weird, if I'm naturally smiling it looks better (i.e. while doing something). But if I'm doing selfies, or taking self portraits (two different things imo) I think trying to look good while not smiling works better. That makes the "looking annoyed" thing worse sometimes, but it's better than the creepy awkward smile look I guess. People seem to think I look good even when I dislike the photo generally, so maybe it's a bit of being self conscious too.

@slw I saw your photo a while ago in one of those photo threads, I think you look better than you think, just kind of annoyed I guess. I look annoyed or whatever in a lot of pics, idk, maybe that's an aspie thing? It's really hard to get good photos that you don't end up hating later...
