How does an adult go about getting diagnosed? I really want to know one way or the other if I have AS, so I can hopefully...well for one thing it would be nice having an explanation for my "weirdness", and also maybe I can then get help with it.

But I really want to know one way or the other, so what does an adult do to get a diagnosis? I've been reading all the books I can on AS, and so much stuff fits, but other stuff doesn't. If it's not AS, I guess I'm just a freak

But...I should at least try to find out officially.

You should see a clinical psychologist, preferably one with a special interest in the autistic spectrum. There's a list of such psychologists on this webpage.

I feel dumb having to ask, but do you know where on the site that information is? I've tried using the search function, and looked around on the front page, but don't see it.

I'm really wondering if I'll be able to find someone near by who can do this for adults, as I'm in central Illinois (Probably easier if you're in a big city like Chicago).

Thanks for the response!

The front page is a list by state. Couldn't find anything here outside of Portland though, so I'd guess that it's just a subset of those who deal with the issue.

I'm also hoping to get a diagnosis. I have an appt. to see my therapist in about a week. I found a really good webpage on a UK site. You can link to some useful related pages on the same site, from it. Here they are, hope they help:
