When watching something on TV, a series or movie and find something exciting, sometimes I stand up and walk around and start to wiggling the fingers of my hands against my stomach, while doing that I put myself in the situation seen on tv, other times just for the excitment then after a few seconds I sit back to continue watching . I only do this when no one else is around. If someone is with me or near I don't do it.

I actually can't explain how I ignored that fact before or forgot that I do that sometimes, but lately I am realizing and accepting that now. When thinking what stimmings I had I didn't think of this one before 8O It seems childlish I think.

That must be an aspie or autistic trait, could be both?

Not quite the same but my friend rubs their hands and taps them and rubs them against things a lot, especially when stressed, nervous, shy, preoccupied and listening to music - not generally when watching a film though.

I do this!! !! !! !!

Sorry, I felt the need to put a dozen exclamation marks in there because I've always felt like a nitwit for doing it, and it's nice to know there's at least one other person on earth who does it too! I stand up, walk around, go for a quick run up and down the hall, and then I'm OK again for a while.

I do this when watching TV, or when reading something good on the web, and occasionally books. I *THINK* (cue wild guess) it's related to what they're talking about in another thread here, called "resetting yourself through stimming": we might be getting a bit overstimulated and need a quick break and some physical activity to process what's coming in. It's usually something I'm really interested in - it's quite different to the 'getting up for a break' you might do if you're watching something boring.

I JUST DID IT! :D

Right after I read your post! :D I will do that with anything on TV and stuff that I have been reading. I would start walking around and pretending to be in that situation that I just saw/read ( talking it outloud and acting). And then I would just run around the house and jump into the couch, blankets, beds, anything soft. Roll around it in excitement for a bit. And once I hear the show come back on TV. I run back and continue watching like nothing odd just happend.

But yeah, I have been doing it more often since I don't work much on the weekdays and my mom and brother are busy at work and school! :D

But I hide it when there's people. I would pretend to go to the kitchen for a snack. Find nothing and then repeat that process every comercial brake.

:o

I do this alot.
After watching a movie or new episode of my favorite tv shows or when I read something I would pace around my house.

I do this too!! ! :o (At least I think it's the same thing)

It ONLY happens when I'm watching, playing, or reading something I *REALLY* love, something that's blowing me away. I'll sometimes pause the show, and start kind of pacing around excitedly and/or start fantasizing about me in that situation. It's almost like it's just so cool I want some time to take it all in.

Sometimes I'll kind of be like that after watching/reading/playing something amazing too, and I'll be all excited for sometimes hours afterwards, wanting to talk about it, kind of fantasizing about it, etc.

What I'm describing is a really positive experience for me :) I love when things do this to me! It's one of the best feelings for me.

So does this count as stimming too? If so, this is getting so funny, because when I first started reading about AS I thought I didn't stim, only I've been finding more and more things I do that I guess are stimming! I've also never really th ought about lots of the things I do as being unusual (or sometimes even being aware of them) until I found this forum.

And I *LOVE* this forum! I can't believe how someone will post something like this, and there'll be a mob of people with the same thing! I love fitting in..FINALLY!

Yep greenblue, Grimbling and others, me too. I get absorbed in something I am studying and then I suddenly get up and run off upstairs or into another room or pace until I realize that I am not sat at my desk 8O

I try not to get too interested in anything in a public library or at college because I think I might jump up there too.

I wish I didn't do this because it often interupts me at the best bits.

Me too!

When I hit on something good, I stop, get up, walk around, run it through my head several times to fit it in the right place, then go back.

The world is a jigsaw puzzel, mostly looking at pieces that do not fit, and when I find one that does, I move to put it in place.

It is a little victory dance, I some kind of bee that processes information through my body.

Yes, if I take in a certain amount of information via TV, movies, etc (or even music DVDs) I reach a point where I have to stim. Usually if it's something I really enjoy I will actually need to turn it off and go sit in my rocking chair and space out, then come back to it. This is why I don't like watching movies with other people, they make you sit through the whole thing and I get really antsy.

I find I pay better attention to movies if I'm either in my rocking chair, or laying on the floor on a bunch of pillows that hold me in place. If I try to lie on the couch or sit up I can't pay attention long at all.

Yep! It's usually the best bits where it happens! I don't mind though.

I don't do this in public in a way anyone can tell, but I do jump up and maybe run to the bathroom or somewhere if I'm in public.
