hi,i've been on here before, but im starting new.
You know what I hate the as/autism culture, why you ask,
here's why: Where in the hell is the average joe, serious Im so
sick and tired of always hearing about very serve autism people
who can't talk, and the gifted asperger guys (yes, aspergers are
always guys). I don't know if I have any autism disorder and personally
I don't really give a f*$& anymore. I have mild to moderate learning disabilty,
I got mostly b and c's with a few a and d in school. I have no 95th percentile skills
in anything( you know chest, computer, cause you know no AS are good at fixing cars)
I guess im all out average joe. I hate this damn culture of asperger/autism folks, I hate at
one time being label and feeling like a minority of a minority. I doubt anyone here will understand me, your probaly all have math dergress or are the world's greatest computer programers.
you can tell by my great spelling and grammar,im doing so well for myself,ha. Until then, stay out of trouble, you friendless genuis.

I agree with most of your statement. Yeah, it does seem like whenever you hear about autism, it's always the severe cases and whenever it comes to AS, it's always guys. I also agree with it being dumb about having it all under one spectrum, even though someone with AS that's gifted would have the same label as someone with extremely severe autism. I think it's immensely stupid. And don't worry, there's a lot of people on here that aren't successful in really anything.

I don't really understand exactly what you're saying, but I am sorry that you feel this way.

You mostly hear about male Aspies because 3/4 of Aspies are male.

You don't hear about Aspie mechanics because NTs are so enamored of the more intellectual pursuits, and don't grasp how a logical point of view and a preference for the inanimate can be massively helpful in the field of auto repair. (Having driven a series of rolling junkpiles over the years, I do understand...) :)

Aspie culture? We have a culture?? Personally, I'm put in mind of a shirt I saw at cafepress.com - "ASPIES UNITE! Oh, right - like we're gonna hold hands."

I see your frustration (though for different yet similar reasons):

"Everyone" tells my mother '...that Daniel, he's a good and smart looking fellow! What's wrong with him?' Autism. 'But he doesn't look autistic!' What's this look exactly? 'Uh....' Yeah, I'm really "good" and "smart" looking when I've never said a word to them....

I'm not a mutant (compared to other humans), beast and/or vampire: I'm a human like you who is just socially ret*d who can only do one thing at a time, nothing more; nothing less.

Not really an autism culture to hate. The number are too small and spread out. And most are not very social with fellow person on the spectrum. So your left with maybe not fitting in with some stereotype you have read. A large percent here may not have much more math or computer knowledge than you. And certainly many people here have friends so not everybody and close to none will be meeting 100% of the official
criteria and all the stereotypical things claimed of those on the autism spectrum.

ok,I explain a letter better. I wish there was more average joe autism/asperger/similair
condition, cause where are these Austistic who are average to below average in school, where
are these austistic who have so-so or even poor skills on various things. Im not mad at asperger
in general, im upset is how the ''average joes'' types are ignored. From rain man to every programm you see with autism, there is no average joe types. Do they even exist I wonder.
Sorry if I offended anyone, i was just a little upset.

what I mean by average joe is your not an honor roll or Great at anything,
you are between poor to average on everything.

Bill,

You would live up to your name better, and people would listen to you more, if you didn't have such a big chip on your shoulder!! !! !!

YEAH, I'm tired of hearing about the people that can't talk also. But WHY should I be against those that are so gifted? And NOPE, there ARE a number of females here that have some impressive capabilities.

BTW I'm smart, but I do not play chess, am no math whiz, etc... I AM getting better at math, and I, in part, have one of those AS WOMEN with such an impressive ability to thank. I WOULD do better, but I have been lazy with that, and have other interests. Luckily, the brain can improve without pressure.

And YEP, I'm good at computers, but I DO know cars also. And I took that stuff in highschool and got good grades. Sorry guy, but machines are one of my interests. until a few years ago, I still had an issue of popular mechanics from 1969! YEP, I subscribed before I was 6yo! I ALSO scored high on the ASVAB(Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery), EVEN though a mistake had them grade me as a junior in COLLEGE instead of a junior in highschool! I must have made an impression! The military was calling me for weeks trying to get me to enlist!

I would not have ever called myself the worlds greatest computer programmer. MAYBE ONE of the best, but how could you say you are THE best?

SO, why did you write that DRECK? Do you really have such LITTLE self esteem that you feel you have to accentuate then negative and attenuate the positive?

Steve

I'm just
wondering
whether the pattern
of writing one line a bit
longer than the other is a
deliberate thing by you or just
whether its an accidental thing ??? :?

That would probably be an AS type of thing.
(except you stuffed up the second last line) Hmmm.

I am a woman, and good at some things and bad at others, so not sure if I fit there or not. (Because I'm really good at some of the things I'm good at. But I'm also really bad at most of the things I'm bad at.)

Bill,

I hope you see enough useful here to hang around.

If there's a 'culture' on this forum, it's really wide-ranging and I like to think what we have in common is that we're willing to talk with each other & to really listen. Personally, I'm an Asperger's woman, not extremely talented in computer or math, the details of the sciences generally. I maybe did better than average for us work-wise at times in my life, but that was always a very shaky thing, and I've been on disability for the last 6 years.

You seemed to be feeling better in your last post; I hope you still are. You're always welcome here, and I don't think anybody cares about the spelling (at least not in the context of 'we're all in this together').

I liked it it was easy to read but I wish at some point
he would have started shrinking the lines
because as they got longer
I found it harder to
focus on them
in the same
way long
post are
hard to
read.
Bye!

He seemed to ALWAYS have a chip on his shoulder. HECK, I kind of get embarassed and feel ashamed after hearing about some great talents some have. SOME even seem to FLAUNT them. I have to admit that I DO take solice in doing so well with some things, but I know how bill feels. Still, I can't fault them. HECK, they might feel the same about ME to a degree! But I am struggling to do BETTER. HE seems to just want to complain.

Cs and Ds in school, dropped out of college twice, sticking with a job I dislike because at the age of 43, I'm tired of always being the New Guy at work - average enough for ya? :)

More seriously, the extremes tend to get the press precisely because it gives NT reporters something to point at when they want to draw a line. It's easier that way, and they don't have to think.
