Language impairment does not always come with autism. But there are autistic people with a wide variety of language impairments.

Sometimes, people with autism never learn to speak at all.

Others only speak when they are imitating someone else (echolalia).

Others do not speak "socially." They don't use language which is appropriate to the situation.

Others have dyspraxia, and have a physical difficulty in speaking (though, if these people didn't have dyspraxia, they would speak much better).

As I understand it, one of the main things that separates classic autism from Asperger's, is speech delay. Kids with classic autism don't start speaking until much later than average, or never at all. I did not start speaking until after I was 8 years old.
However, people with Asperger's sometimes have what is called selective mutism, which makes them nonverbal a lot of the time. And like kraftiekortie said, there are people with autism who have dyspraxia, which I have as well. Also called apraxia of speech. And then there are people I know of with autism who are very talkative.

I learnt to talk at average age and didn't have speech delays.
