I now have access to a growing Autism support network that caters to adults. I don't have mommy around anymore. Unfortunately mommy could never help. I went out on two outings designed to help me get out there and be more social. On the weekend evenings I am involved with a church group for those with disabilities....Initially I didn't like the idea but my subconscious was telling me to go anyway. I'm glad I did. It gave me a warm feeling inside and it felt good. I'm growing older and quite frankly I need a lot of help. I think this website is good for getting tips to questions I have, I need a psychologist to guide me with my mental health issues and I need the adult support services to help me through the autistic traits. Plus many more people........

Yeah I was in it for 26 years then I got to go back in for 2.5 due to no services for adults....fun, fun, fun!! ! America has turned the art of torturing minorities then making them feel grateful when it gives them the services they need into a science!! ! But it is still the country that I love. Don't ask me how that works because I haven't fully figured it out yet. It's kind of like being an individual who is trapped with an abusive and/or neglectful spouse. Slowly the spouse realizes their mistakes but only after they have destroyed their partner and worn them down to the nub. But you know that if you are not careful one day they will do it again.

You have to develop your own support network to ensure that the government doesn't treat you badly.

To be disabled, in America, is to be thought of as a burden by many people.

That's why, if possible, you should steer clear of entitlement programs. They tend to cause dead-end existences.

Some people who work for the government are the dipshit taxpayers.

Some people who man the SSI/SSDI booths are okay; but others are really nasty--don't you agree?

I work for the government myself--so I can't talk LOL

Aren't you going for federal employment?

It'll be good if you could break the dependency cycle, and be totally independent of government resources.

Yeah, but here's the thing. I'm not on any government services right now. I am looking to work for the federal government, so yeah I'll have services from them. I'm not looking to be permanently on any government aid. Just a little help every once in a very long while if I need it. I wouldn't want to be on welfare. I know the strings that come attached with it and it isn't fun.
Luckily with this service for adults I have something that works. It is not under the government and therefore they have the freedom to do what they need to and so do I. It's really good!!
