I've been watching television with closed captioning turned on my entire life, even though I technically have better than average hearing. I'm wondering if this is because of auditory processing issues. I don't tend to understand nearly as much of what's going on or what people are saying without being able to read the captions.

I've always preferred books over movies. Between the auditory processing and my poor facial recognition skills, I'm lost during some movies.

Does anyone else do this?

I do this with games, as I like to read the subtitles in case I am auditory distracted by something or I want to know how something is spelled.
