...is to be obsessed with AS! It's been the primary thing on my mind for the past week or so, and I am having real trouble shaking it.

Did anyone else obsess over AS here at Wrong Planet for a period of time when they figured out that they were AS?

Yes! Here I am doing the same thing :) Glad I'm not alone. I just haven't had enough time yet to post as much as I'd like. Reading like crazy, though.

Seems I can get obsessed with alot of things but that obsession also goes away pretty easily. But wrll never leaves.

I think quite a few aspies become obsessed with AS. Depending on how deep the obsession goes, it does subside (unlike my obsession with transit systems and anything Canada).

Cute, alex.

Yeah, I just found out my ID and here I am... all things Asp...

Kinda messing with my head, doesn't quite feel like a natural obsession (which is buddhism and homesteading for the last few years), but a useful one in any case...

Focus yer little heart out!

Same. Obsessed with AS since the first day I read about it and said "WTF I think that is describing ME!"

Yeah, I know. This obsession feels a bit more, um... "dirty" than my other ones? I dunno. I feel like I have to be overprotective of this one. If someone caught me in the middle of one of my normal obsessions, they could just chalk that up to my personality.

It's kind of like I'm keeping a dirty little secret that I can't tell anyone about. It's not like I can simply talk everyone's ear off about this. I think I'm finding that really hard.

Pretty ironic, huh? We obsess about a condition that lists being obsessive as one of the symptoms that we have. If we obsess over it enough, maybe we will soon discover why we obsess so much about stuff in general. It has to do with the wiring of our brains, yet we use our brains to obsess about stuff. There's something really funny about this whole thing...

Transit systems is a pretty cool obsession.

Yep, me too. I even knew I was doing it. And its so hard to keep your major/minor interests out of conversation. And telling people you have AS and all about it probably is not good social communication. My other minor interest at the moment is fragrances which is probably more socially acceptable. Except I go overboard and give a short lecture on the history of artificial musk. Doh.

Yup I had that. It found its way into my dreams. I had a bunch of weird dreams involving people rejecting me or wanting to kill me for my ASD.

Yes, very obsessed, and if it ends up that I don't have a ASD then it would be creepy :D

I think it's really obvious. On this forum I see way more people who are here only 3 months and have 600 posts. seems a way higher ratio of new-high-posters than I do on forums related to other topics [computers, video games, travel, cars, internet culture, ham radio, etc.].

AS is a lifelong thing, it isn't just a hobby ;) It is there in your past and will be there in your future.
