Hi. Does anybody else have problems with staring? Quite recently I read that it may be OCD-staring. For example, when I try to walk past people and try to avoid eye-contact with them I'm not able to avoid staring at them with my side-view even though I try to look another way. Sometimes when I get eye-contact, it takes several seconds before I'm able to break the eye contact, so it gives them the wrong idea. Anyone with the same problem and/or have any experiences or solutions?

I have the opposite problem, people stare at me in the street as they pass, and I barely look at them, the only way I know they're staring is I can see in my periphery, I can sense it, or when I look up I catch them staring directly at me.

I find it hard to stare at strangers.

That sounds annoying. Sorry if I've ever stared at you, if I have, it wasn't on purpose. I also find it hard to stare at strangers, but at the same time it's hard not to do it, I don't really understand it.

I tend to get fixated on things and stare a lot.It usually is because I am lost in my own mind and not thinking about what is going on around me. I used to get made fun of for it a lot in school.

That also happens to me too, I almost get panicked when I notice that I'm staring at a person.

When I see a child cry, I tend to want to see why the child his crying.

I stare at the child in these instances, and sometimes at the parents.

I don't know why I have this fascination. I just want the child to stop crying. I sometimes try smiley faces and such.

I thought it was normal for people to stare.

It's normal for people to look.

It might be normal for a person to stare if he/she is curious.

The staring instinct must be suppressed, though, in the interest of civilization, and one's own personal safety.

I do too. I used to have people yell at me and then mock me when they thought I was staring at them so I try to be very careful.

At these kind of situations it gets hard for me to not stare too. Smiling sounds like a very good idea.

I meant that it wasn't normal for me to stare on purpose. I would guess it depends on person if it's normal or not. Sometimes people smile, look away or stare.

People at school aren't really the nicest people. I think there are a lot of people there who are too judgemental there. I am also trying to be careful, a lot of people get angry with me. I finally got fed up with how they forced me to look down, so I'm practicing to not care about them.

I stare at whatever captures my attention. Like if a person is wearing jewelry. especially like a necklace, I will stare at it. Usually in my mind I take it apart and or imagine how it was constricted.

That sounds interesting, how do you imagine it?
