Medication?
I had a general question about therapies and meds. I currently take sertraline and occasionally, during stress or work/school, concerta and while some of the add-like symptoms and anxiety/depression have eased I still exhibit some impulse issues (not like drinking, drugs, or crime/outbursts) and also still have a lot of persecution thoughts running rampant in my head. Some of my impulse issues are not taking criticism and my mom explains things like freaking out over nothing including stimulus and yelling "I know! I know!" or "Am I in trouble! What did I do!" without really thinking and it hinders my social and work life. Does anybody have any suggestions or experiences of medications that work?
I don't think meds will change that. You need to work with a therapist to gradually learn to change those responses, by working through scenarios that would trigger impulsive reactions like that, learn to be mindful of the physical sensations and thoughts that precede an outburst, catch yourself, and use emotion regulation/distress tolerance techniques(part of DBT) to control yourself and act in a more appropriate way. You'll need to practice this over and over, which your therapist can be a safe outlet to do so, without anyone's feelings getting hurt and without you getting yourself into trouble.
