There was a thread entitled, "Temple's book "THE LOVING PUSH" on Autists who DON'T work."

Now it's gone. What happened?

Maybe accidental during the spam purge?

Yeah, that's what I would guess, too. It's happened before.

I was interested in reading your morning post on this topic.

I had posted the following last night.

Ditto.

My parents coerced me into doing many things that I otherwise would have never done. It certainly could have been handled in a better way (as many aspects of my childhood were unpleasant). With that being said, without this guidance, I probably would have never become independent.

By the way, I still can't understand why anyone would think Temple's advice is a bad idea.

I think what I posted this morning was about parents teaching skills early on and being encouraging to build strengths early on, and these giving children more ability to learn and practice work arounds for problems of autism as adults.

Then, in the afternoon, someone said I was focused too much on attitude instead of specific steps to do things, and I posted that having positive attitude lets me take the steps to learn how to do things, like figuring out the specific steps by researching on my own, asking others, working on something, showing to others and getting feedback, getting general direction from others in the beginning, etc. Having negative attitude that I can't proceed without knowing all the specific steps in the beginning reduces or stops learning and can explain failures in employment or other pursuits.

This happens from time to time as the spam removal is a manual rather than purely electronic process that we do as fast as we can. The thread is back.

This was my experience as well. I can easily see how people, who didn't receive that "loving push" as children, would be at a significant disadvantage as adults.
