When I look at a direct light source, I can only see the color it actually is for a few seconds before it looks like another color, such as blue or pink. When I move my eyes away from the light, I still see colors in the shape of the light, however, the colors change according to the color of whatever I'm looking at. Sometimes, even after I haven't been looking at a light, I see random blotches of color. Sometimes I also see little lines that are in my peripheral vision. If I move my eyes down, they move down too. I can never look directly at them. Up till a few weeks ago I used to think these things happened to everyone. Then I asked my mum and she said the color of light always stayed the same when she looked at it. I've only asked her about this, so I wanted to see if this happened to anyone else.
Is it my mum who sees light differently, or me?
Does this happen to you too?

I thought what you're describing is normal.

Yeh, I think that is normal. Whenever I look at a light and then look away or close my eyes, I always see colourful splodges that change size/shape/colour. Or if I'm watching TV in the dark and then look away, I can still see an imprint of what was on it vaguely afterwards. I think everybody is like that.

I don't know REALLY what you are talking about. If you look into a BRIGHT light, an image CAN remain for a while. That is COMMON! Autistics brains DO work a little different, and you might perceive some things differently. I haven't asked anyone if THEY saw it but I doubt they did, as nobody mentioned it, but I have noticed on a projector that my client has been using, that I can see the various beams that make up the color. It is like there is a prism between the projector and me, except it is only Red Green and Blue.

I think that is pretty normal, at least for bright lights. Although even for dimmer lights, if you look directly at them, especially for more than a couple seconds.
