I don't mind if I'm called an AS or not; what I do care about is trying to improve behavioural issues that have made life hard and difficult for me and my loved ones.

I do not think one person is an Aspie and another isn't, but that some people may have more 'tilt' towards operating their brains in an AS way, and have gone that way, leading them into problems particularly in socialising.

However I also think people can un-learn the AS route - and I'm feeling really good about this; http://unlearningasperger.blogspot.com.

The point of sharing here I think should be to see if we can find ways out from under the rock.

All the best

I don't think 'you' is your Aspie-ness...

Since I don't believe that AS is learned, I find the premise of "unlearning" faulty.

If you feel the need to change, best wishes that it works out. I like myself the way I am and yes, it is me. However, you are not me, so I wish you all the best in your pursuits.

I like being an aspie and I wouldn't change that. As AS results from the fact that the brain is 'wired up' differently, it's not something you can 'un-learn'. And it is not something that you learned in the first place.

I think the one thing I would change is the poor attitude of some members of society towards aspies.

I think scientists/doctors have told you you can't un-wire it, you were born that way, etc - but if you look at the Thesis page on my site you'll see 2 example books about people who were healed. Think positive!

Look, are you just coming on here to start s**t? AS cannot be cured. Period. You have to choices: Take like a b***h, or take it in stride. I think all of us take it in stride. We do think positive about it, and have learned to cope. Please do not sully our forum with your BS!

Then how do you explain
(a) the healings in
'Let me hear your voice' by Catherine Maurice http://www.amazon.com/Let-Me-Hear-Your- ... 02&sr=8-1- due to intense hugging – and·
'Son-Rise by Barry Kaufman http://www.amazon.com/Son-Rise-Barry-Ne ... 449&sr=1-1 - by going to meet the child in their world.
and
(b) the healing I am experiencing now?

How can you prove to me that AS is un-fixable?

Wouldn't you like to interact at a human, empathetic level?

For how long was mankind sure that the earth was flat?

With the concept that it is in the way we think, the way we work mentally you cannot cure it. You can suppress it, maybe 'balance' it with medication someday, whatever.

Better life? Label? There's a difference?
So okay, say you're cured. You're no longer a labeled AS. How much do you want to bet in .2 seconds you'll have a new label. Like the kind of shoes you ware makes you a 'hipster' or some other bullsh**. Labels are everywhere, doesn't matter whether you ARE the label or not, people are going to label you in correspondence with what they either see, feel, perceive or analyze.

Who cares if you're NT or AS. So you're 'normal' by human standards. Big deal, and that means what to who? Nothing much, no one gives a rats ass.

So you're AS, you sputter and spit and obsess and think differently, oh lord its the damn apocalypse. Who cares? I surely don't. None of my business what YOU are and I really don't care what you think I am so what's it matter? Labeling only organizes people into groups and labels are created by the individual who is doing the labeling.

Yes, I'm AS, I'm INTJ, I'm a type eight and I have PTSD. You could call me a 'punk' a 'nerd' a reject. I'm Russian and white trash, poor and have the complection (I don't know how to spell this word...)thats whiter than your granny panties. I'm still Michael and I still really don't care what you think.

It shouldn't matter.

I don't think I'm flawed, so therefore I don't want to be healed. I like myself just fine. If you feel you are flawed and need to think you can be cured, un-learned or whatever, I think you should pursue that.

It's all assumption at this point. Until they actually hand it over to scientists and figure out what it looks like in the brain, it's all subjective. Since it's subjective, do what you want. You don't need any of us to agree with your thoughts to make them valid.

Bah, bend 'em.
Creative thinking process is limitless, in all rules there's a twist. You'll never know any set of rules properly.
