I'm hoping to start a new Asperger's group serving Central Pennsylvania that is geared towards adults. I'm thinking of starting it through G.R.A.S.P., especially since I have no experience in forming support groups and I could use the structure and guidance. Before I begin looking into this more seriously or contact G.R.A.S.P., though, I'd like to find out if there are actually any prospective members. (I'm new to the AS community and honestly don't have a good sense of how many of us there may be in my part of the state, although I'm guessing not many). If anyone would be interested, please PM me.

Also, does anyone have any suggestions on how to find others who may want to attend something like this? So far, I've been thinking of making similar posts on other AS sites and leaving fliers in disability services offices at universities in my area. What other avenues may be good to try? I'd really value your input. Thanks.

No way! I'm in Central PA. I'm in grad school at Penn State on the University Park campus. Where are you?

I've got NLD, though, not AS, although I've got lots in common with you guys!

I am from western PA but I have a friend who also happens to be a grad student at Penn State, so it looks you already have atleast a couple members.

I'm actually a few hours south of State College now, although I'm not sure for how long. (The heartless corporation I work for was just bought out and I may have to start job-hunting soon, but I plan to stay somewhere in the region). Still, meeting in the middle somewhere would be easier for me than driving out to Philadelphia or western PA, which seem to be my only options because all of the groups close to me are for parents of kids with AS.

Incidently, I have a dual diagnosis of NLD and AS and yes, we do have a lot in common. To be honest, I'm not completely clear where my NLD ends and my AS starts, or vice-versa.

I'm in Northwestern, PA but pass through your area frequently. If you end up having meetings, please post date, time and location and I'll drop in when I can. If nothing more, I've got some now humorous stories of 52+ years of AS-related adventures.

That would be great. I'll do that if/when I can get something pulled together. Thanks.
