You used to be able to get thin plastic pictures of characters from cartoons and stuff, and when you put them in the oven they would shrink and become hard and you could use them as keyrings or just little hard plastic things that were cool because they SHRUNK!!
You could peer in the oven and watch them shrinking!

You can do this with some types of crisp packets too- make little keyrings and stuff out of them. :D

gosh. how...erm... how very...wonderful? i really am quite at a loss for words.

well, actually, i'm not, but i'm afraid they would be "bleeped" out, and i doubt anyone really wants to read a row of asterisks.

i think my favourite part of the concept is that you can watch them shrink, through the oven door. doesn't this sort of thing make you wonder why humans haven't solved the genome thingy, and all those other mindboggling problems? i mean, if human brains can come up with watching shrinky things through an oven door, merely as ENTERTAINMENT, surely nothing is beyond our intellectual abilities?

pass me the hemlock...

i'm sorry, but i just could not bring myself to look them up on the wiki-wotsit - i've had enough excitement for one day, as it is...

Oh come on, surely you must have an appreciation for the kitsch? I know I have a garishly grinning plastic pineapple moneybox on my shelf.

LOL Many years ago, a friend gave me a hideous multi-colored ceramic FISH cookie jar. Ugh! Our kids thought it was hilarious, so instead of, um, "re-gifting" it, I set it on top the fridge and usually kept it full of Oreos. When our oldest daughter (clearly shadow AS, but she INSISTS she's NT  ) moved into her own place, she begged to take it along. Now it sits atop her fridge.

I had a cat cookie jar that I filled full of Cheezits. Then I forgot to eat them (for about two years). I finally threw the jar (and Cheezits) away.

oh, absolutely - let's face it, i've been known as a fag hag for years, so how could i not? however, there's difference between having an appreciation for kitsch, and surrounding oneself with examples. my house is in rather disgustingly good taste, i'm afraid. oh - i do have a dancing sunflower, though, which plays a guitar when you sing at it. does that count? and i like twinkly, sparkly things. mainly to wear... i think i'll forgo the shrinkies, though.

Hey! I used to have one of those! I broke it though. I think I sang at it too much.

Given that the topic is about "self-control", I think its rather ironic really, actually.....

Sunflowers don't dare play guitar in my house for fear of being in the presence of a true Axe-God!! !! My G-String technique is truly legendary..... And my strong right hand and dextrous finger waggling really hit the spot!! !!

/me tries to control herself...

your.../me tries to curb hysterical giggling... G-String technique?

/me fails utterly at self control...

and what spot exactly do you mean?

/me sustains quite serious injury falling off the chair laughing.

Your drawing is much better than anything I've ever attempted!
