To begin with I suppose I should say that I am a 22 year old female from Charlestom, SC and I was diagnosed with ADHD and bipolar at a young age. I have a younger brother (now 18) who has been diagnosed with Aspergers. My mother always doted on him as a kid and said I was selfish for not caring about his Aspergers very much. (I kind of was) In the past 6 months I started reading a lot about Aspergers and the more I read, I am almost 100% positive I have it as well. I just always assumed my original diagnosos was correct. I told my mother my suspicions (on two occasions now) and she has brushed it off.

Anyway, I really would like to get help from/insight into resources and it would be great but my mother is the one who knows all about that stuff. I don't think she will help/believe me unless I get an official diagnosis. But she doesn't seem to be willing to help with that either. I was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction ... Sorry this is so long

You should contact autism societies in your area and see if they have a list of people who will do adult evaluations. Then you will have to keep calling people until you find someone who has an opening and accepts your insurance, if you have any. If you are paying out-of-pocket, then you probably have more options.

If I were you if research providers online in your area also.

I've never heard of it, but I had a difficult time finding someone who'd take my insurance. I ended up calling and emailing all sorts of places. I was on a waiting list for about four months.

I'm afraid that I don't know of any easy solution. Just make sure you don't research tests too much before you go, as it will affect the results. You need to act naturally.
