When I was a teen, someone compared me to Ally Sheedy's character in "Breakfast Club." I had not seen the movie (didn't see it until I was in college) so I didn't even know what they meant. Recently I found out that the character is supposed to have Asperger's?
The Allison Reynolds charactor has a lot traits associated with Autism stimming: rocking back and forth, incessant nail chewing. Sensory sensativities: She at one point covers her ears and is often cruched over, looking like she is sensory ovewhelmed, very quiet, runs right to the library, but when she does talk is very blunt and sees a psych. But that she was supposed to be an autistic charactor is doubtful because in 1985 when the film was released outside of a literally a few leading edge autism experts Aspergers and anything resembling more then the most severe autism was not recognized. That would not start to happen until three years later with Rain Man. Allison Reynolds is known as the
basket case charactor.
