I used to have it all the time, from childhood til I was about forty. My current dentist doesn't use it at all. I've had two root canals with just novocaine and I was OK. I prefer the nitrous, though, because it helped to relax me.

Not at the dentist, but before general anesthesia and surgery, because I tend to have panic attacks so I got something to feel stoned enough. I couldn't feel the mask on my face quite as well (my sense of touch was altered), but I still could feel the pressure of the mask, and the physical sensation was awful. It was very hard to mentally restrain myself from pulling the mask out. I envy those who had a nice experience with laughing gas, because I definitely didn't.

No, just lidocaine as a local. Years ago, I was given sodium pentathol for a double wisdom tooth extraction. Out in a split second, awake again in a split second, no recollection of being out. But no euphoric high like propofol gives me.

Yes, once my dentist tried to remove a wisdom tooth but she couldn't, so I had to drive to an emerg dentist myself and he gave me it(my own dentist always refused to no matter how much a pleaded, now I hate needles) It was awesome, I could hear the wisdom tooth being rocked back and forth and felt the tooth moving but I felt no pain at all and felt like bursting out laughing the whole time(I am told they may have gave me too much as that is not a common experience).

My son gets it every time he needs a cavity filled now due to his own anxiety of needles and drilling and it is the only way I can get him to walk into a dentist now. He likes it and reports nothing bad from it.

I did once or twice.

However, laughing gas (Nitrous Oxide) only has a limited effect on me (so I still felt pain from the procedure :(). Ever since I have opted for an injection if anaesthesia is necessary.
