Hello.
I am going to meet an old friend of mine, we used to see each other quite a lot a few years ago (before i was diagnosed). She is 3 years older than me, and she jokes and says things many people would consider offensive. I am not sure on how i dealt with it when i was younger, but when i saw her last week i didnt know if she was joking or being serious. Her personality is very special and i really like her, it is however difficult for me to know what she means. Because we haven't been in contact for so long it does feel "wrong" to keep asking her if she is serious or not. She doesnt know of my stuggles and i am wondering how to proceed.

A little tidbit here. People who routinely say they are joking and expect you to laugh......often aren't joking. It's their chickenshyt way of telling you how they feel.

I cut these people out of my life. Sarcasm and rolling jokes aren't funny.

It's not like that. We are childhood friends and she just is like that.

My general rule for telling people my diagnosis is that I can do it if they know me well enough that they would not change their view of me in favor of stereotypes, and this has worked very well for me. It seems that your friend fits that criteria, so if I were you I would inform her about my diagnosis and say that I have trouble understanding sarcasm.
