Hi Everyone, I need white noise to sleep, but my husband and I like to go camping, so does anyone have a recommendation on a battery operated white noise machine? Thanks for any suggestions. Hope you all have a good week.

if you have access to a quiet power supply, i'd just bring along a compact box fan, nothing generates a thicker and more masking broad-spectrum noise than fans, especially close to your head, which would help you sleep.

there is probarbly a white noise app for iphone/android, which turns your smartphone in a white noise machine.

That, or download an MP3 file white noise 'song' for your phone and play-it-back to yourself on your phones music player.

Adjust volume accordingly to suit your needs.

Use your phone. Download some white noise sound files and play them on loop with headphones. You can get some portable battery banks to recharge your phone, and you can also get wind-up chargers for back up. Playing music off your phone uses very little battery compared to watching videos or playing games

I use an excellent application for both my desktop and my phone called SimplyNoise. Google and it will be the first hit. It has several different types of noise which I find helpful in different situations.

Also check out SimplyRain. I find this one calms me down when I'm loosing my excrement.

Hi aspieinaz.

Have you gone camping before, and found you couldn't sleep, or are you anticipating?

I say this because I found sleeping in a remote area and listening to Nature at night quite similar to sleeping with "white noise." I haven't used a machine for years now, although it was great when I needed it.

Hey everyone, Thanks for the suggestions. I never thought of looking for an ap on my phone. And I'm going to check out the simply noise and rain sites. Yes, we've gone camping many times, and are usually plugged into electricity so I can use my white noise machine. Without it, I will wake up at the least little sound. It doesn't help that my husband snores. At home we sleep in separate bedrooms. But while camping we are in closer quarters, so I need something to drown out the snoring. At home I have found the big box fans work great, especially on hot summer nights when I need more air circulation. If anyone else is contemplating white noise for at home, I have also used the floor model hepa air filters. That helps me in two ways, it filters the air, which helps lessen my multitude of allergy symptoms, and it provides that nice steady fan noise that I need for sleep. Thanks again for your suggestions.
