Hello.
First of all, I'm not talking about "treating autism".
I want to treat my irritability, which is literally killing me, and I suppose it comes from my Autism. I searched the net and found this.
A randomized controlled pilot trial of oral N-acetylcysteine in children with autism.

Have anyone tried this? I mean not necessarily in this huge doses but at more sane doses maybe?
I suppose this is safe, and frankly I don't even care as long as it works. My irritability is killing me and it's affecting my social life because I get irritable so easily. It's probably giving my family the hell too. I tried everything including high doses of antipsychotics so I suppose this stuff is not nearly as bad as dementia inducing and diabetis inducing Zyprexa. And they don't even work for me.
Cheerz
Omid.

Possibly Aspie (diagnosed by an autism expert, doc moves abroad, forced to change docs and all say it's schizophrenia NOS or schizo-affective disorde or personality disorders. initial doc was a colleague of uncle Simon btw. you do the math.). (edit: by Uncle Simon I mean Simon Baron Cohen. Just to clear things up.)

But you can't patent NAC, therefore you cannot make profits from it, so therefore it will never be used in Western medicine over something like Zyprexa which makes mega bucks regardless of the findings of any study say.

I don't care about the patent issue. NAC is cheap and available anywhere. I have some, and I could go on an take it.
There is no need for a supplement to be patented in order for me to put it in myself :D.
The question is whether it's a good Idea, and that too can be done without it being patented.
