I have restless legs. I shake them like mad to the point of hurting my ankles. They feel sore all day and I think I might have permanently injured them. Whenever I find myself doing that I stop but can't give up on the habit for more than two minutes.

So is this a stim or just something else?

I used to do something sort of like that with my thumbs (mostly my right one) that's sort of hard to describe, but basically I move it around in circles at the edge of it's range of movement and there is this one thing I can do which causes a small cracking sound if that makes any sense. After a while it makes my thumb start to hurt so I try to force myself to stop and replace it with something else until I succeed.

So yeah, it's likely a stim (unless you have restless leg syndrome). You should try to replace it with something else, when you find yourself doing it don't just stop yourself but start doing another less harmful stim instead. That's what has worked the best for me.

I think it is, although I only do it when I have my legs directly on the ground (not when I'm sitting on the floor) but if I'm not sitting on the floor then I do it a lot and hurt my ankles. It also gets a lot worse when I'm stressed.

Thanks all!

I had always thought it to be Restless Legs Syndrome. I've been reading and there's at least one thing that doesn't seem to fit: I don't vibrate the legs when I'm laying in my bed. This doubt kept on pounding in my mind.
