I think I might have been born with Aspergers because of doing something wrong in a past life so my current reincarnation is paying for it.

My problem with the idea of reincarnation apart from it being ridiculous .... is that the idea I've read about suggested that when someone passes away to the other side ( OK - DIES ) they come back in another persons body ! !??

So how does that work given that the current population is a this and times greater than it was centuries ago !?

As the population continues to grow , surely there simply can't be enough dead souls around to cope with the new borns ?!?!?

Most people who believe in reincarnation would probably say that not everyone's been a human before. Still doesn't answer the question of how the first living thing to exist would have come from, though.

At any rate, I'm sorry you feel so down, OP. If it helps at all, I strongly suspect that, if reincarnation is a thing, I used to be some sort of war criminal. Maybe someone in the Khmer Rouge? Not too sure.

I've always felt that I would claw my own eyes out with a wooden spoon coated in mouldy bread crumbs before I am reincarnated, I have waded through crud creek and fought too hard to get to this sense of cohesion I've started piecing together on this shore, I would absolutely abhor having to experience life and forget all I have learned and grown from, some people find it a stunning thing to potentially be reincarnated but I don't like the idea at ALL. I may have thought differently if I was squirming around impaled on a spike, an eighteen year old kid in some epic grotesque battle of the past though... but from my current vantage point no thanks I would rather have the one life and progression onwards when I kick the bucket, if there's nothing, then I would definitely advocate reincarnation for those who've had not much chance at life and growing but not for me, I'm quite serene with my arc and potency of my journey so far, it's very meaningful and I don't want to be painted over by some cosmic law that casts me back, it would be absolute lunacy to have to start again all for nothing!

I’ve been saying that for years. I must have assassinated Franz Ferdinand or committed some other unforgivable act I will pay for through eternity.

Also, no. We are biological organisms that cease to exist when brain death occurs.

There is no valid empirical evidence to prove reincarnation.

Past life regressions and déjà vu experiences are best explained as the recalling of events from this life, not some past life, including stories told by other people. Dreams and child prodigies are best explained in terms of brain structures and genetically inheritable traits and processes. And since bad things also happen to bad people and good things also happen to good people, the most reasonable belief is that there is no design to the distribution of good and bad happening to people.

From a philosophical point of view, reincarnation poses some interesting problems. What is it that is reincarnated? Presumably, it is the soul that is reincarnated, but what is the soul? A disembodied consciousness? What is a consciousness? If it can exist in a disembodied state, then why does it need a body in the first place?

Positing layer upon layer of 'theories' to explain something that can't be proven to exist is the basis of religion, which is itself the expression of faith ...

... or just wishful thinking.

No! But I also don't see any evidence to believe in gods, boogey men, dragons, alien visitations etc. I personally like evidence. Just because you cant disprove something doesn't make it valid. Life is random, thinking otherwise is egocentric and unhelpful.

A large part of life is procedure but the rest of what remains in life is random. There are patterns in the fields of randomness that can be predicted by probability and even manipulated slightly under the right conditions. The future can be very difficult to predict at times but the patterns in the randomness can sometimes be seen by carful reprocessing of past events.

I can always see this afterwards but going forward in life seems to be completely random for me.

That has nothing to do with reincarnation or any superstitious belief systems

No it does not, but it does have a high randomness content.

Sorry, have a nice day.

Isn't there a religion board for this topic?

Is that how you feel about things ??

I regard my Aspergers as a gift or a blessing ( not from God as that WOULD be silly ) but I see all my little quirky ways as a bonus , I can see ways to solve problems that others can't see , I love the way I'm obsessive about sports / animals / music etc . I can do things with a football that others can only dream of etc etc ..

I have heard stories, like a boy who has memories of being a woman.

Does anyone keep track of these stories? I'll have to do a little research.

^^Thank you!
I believe in reincarnation, but I would rather not say anymore about my amazing experiences because disbelievers/cynics make me sad even though I try not to get sad.

I have experienced abuse from non-believers (fnord) on here myself so I don't blame you for not wanting to share publicly.
Would you mind telling me your experiences on a PM?

I do believe in reincarnation, but the idea of being "punished" for a previous life is not in my theology/philosophy? I just think that there's a God that wants relationships with his creation, and He gives us free will to choose to be with him or not. If we don't want to be, then we just reincarnate again and again until our essence decides we want to be with him.

Losely based on Christianity.
