(like in the car and i want to go home while there's a car accident on someone else's car) i tend to bang my head and scream... not pleasent, but as my head repeatingly hits my or the front car seat i feel out of control...

It is indeed a common autism thing from what I have heard, although I myself don't do it often.

I do this sometimes but not often, I think I done it when I was little because, my head doesn't hurt when I get hit it or something like that.

My friend does that all the time (but I don't think he's autistic).

I have hit my head sometimes when I'm frustrated or having a meltdown.

Yep...this is part of my repertoire, too.

I've done this a few times, though it's pretty rare. Always during meltdowns.

Oh yeah, I used to get black eyes and huge bumps on my head from doing this. I did when I was mad, happy, sad, excited, whatever it was my favourite stim until my dad made me stop because of re-occurring concussions

I have a habit of banging my head 4 times in a row when I'm very frustrated. It happens a few times a week and I usually do it at Stepping Stones or inside the elevator, or should I say that I used to. I've tried it once or twice wearing my Schultz helmet and it was impossible to do it, so wearing the helmet when I'm not at work or at my parents home is actually a good thing.

I go to a school for kids with autism and head banging is fairly common. Some kids have to wear protective headgear.

I slap or punch my head rather than bang it.

I usually headbang when I am frustrated or overwhelmed in a conversation and I feel backed into a corner and feel like I can't get out. I have given myself a concussion in the past from headbanging.
