Hi,

I work with an individual who has Asperger's Syndrome and is very high functioning. We have been talking lately and If I say a wrong minor detail of something he starts saying " you have a bad memory" or "bad memory" etc. This is very hurtful and insulting. How would you handle this situation? It creates a lot of tension in our conversations because he is looking for anything he can jump on to say "bad memory" to me. He is even coming up with false situations where he will say I told you that a year ago. Don't you remember? When he never did tell me that.

I admittedly have a terrible memory.
I think you should tell him to knock it off.

Some of us latch onto ways of feeling superior because we really feel like crap. Which doesn't at all mean we shouldn't be called out on it. I agree with Ezra. Confront this guy. It's healthier for both of you.
