So I have this idea for a device that can help people on the autistic spectrum. It would consist of a set of glasses like the Google Glass that can take photos in real time and provide analysis of the emotions in this face. In effect, it would give you a lot of useful real-time social feedback.

Well we're gonna be doing that better. Was this the Stanford project?

I would use the device as a supplement, rather than as a primary tool.

As a template, rather than as something which reveals absolute truths about facial expressions.

One has to learn how to discern different moods in faces in "real time."

I wouldn't want it. I'd always be second guessing myself based on the data. I'd also probably end up distracted by it, causing different kinds of social mishaps. >_>

Probably - the one I was thinking of was a tech-student guy who presented it with google glasses in a video.

Better? that would need a little explanation

It's a very interesting idea I think. But how would it get round the fact that I find it hard to look at people in the face? I suspect that a sensor on each side of my head would gather a lot more relevent data. Or it might be possible to get the smart glasses to bring up a prompt saying "look at the face" at the right time, and it would be even better if it also prompted me to look away at the socially-acceptable time. Most of my failure to do eye contact seems to be down to my simply forgetting to do it, and I simply don't know when to look away, so I feel at constant risk of sending the wrong signals.

Bc it'd be cheaper. Can you send me a link to this video? Was this from Georgia Tech?
