Has anyone watched this documentary. I'm watching it as I type and I like it, like most autism documentaries I feel really connected to the people in it, and of course answering my dads questions on behaviour and motive.

My love life is very normal I would say. I personally don't care for sexual relationships but I do somewhat enjoy romantic relationships or a deeper companionship. I have had boyfriends before and it was just a little teen relationships, they were always instigated by the guy, never me. They failed usually on mutual agreement or I wasn't comfortable with what they were comfortable with.

How about you? Did you watch it? What do you think of it?

It is on Netflix

I have not watched it yet. I probably will check it out. Usually I'm afraid to watch new things. I generally am hesitant to try any kind new things, and television tends to depress me because it reminds me of how much my life sucks. But since so many people have mentioned it, I think I will make the effort to watch it this week.

That's funny, because I never met anybody else who was like that until now. People here are often talking about new shows or movies. And they are always things that I don't watch.

I am really very stubborn when it comes to stuff like that. I have a whole list of types of things that I just refuse to watch. And I just assume that I won't like them. This has been going on ever since I was young. So basically there is small list of things that I would be willing to watch, and I still end up watching the same things anyway, because they are comforting.

It applies to music, too. Which is why I don't really listen to anything new. It takes me forever to get used to the idea of new things, and then when I finally do, they aren't new anymore, lol. So I will often not even start watching a television series until it's been cancelled. And I know that I'm limiting myself and being silly, but I just can't bring myself to be less picky.

But some types of things I'm ok with, like you said. I'm usually ok with watching documentaries, or things that are nonfiction that relate to my interests. I like old, familiar sitcoms; crime dramas (only certain ones); documentaries, reality tv that's scientific or educational like "Monsters Inside Me"; cartoons; and some scifi shows that were on when I was a kid. I have already watched almost every episode of Friends I think, but I like it. And I used to watch Star Trek a lot.

I also will sometimes be too stubborn to watch a show until after its off the air and then I think damn I missed all the time I could have watched this. However I'm very picky about TV and only watch a few shows like science documentaries or old sitcoms over and over again. Rarely watching any new programing. But I prefer to be out in nature if I can. Same with music, over and over nothing new. It gives me comfort to do things that way. Nice to know I'm not alone

I will definitely have to watch it soon. I could really use any advice it has to offer and I have been sort of obsessing about autism lately.

I haven't seen it, but I'm in a long distance relationship with someone who has Aspergers like me. And I know that I can make better connections with her than I can with my own family.

I'm like that too.
I watch the same TV series and documentaries over and over because they are familiar and comforting and I'm hesitant to watch new things because things I'm not familiar with seem strange and I'm not interested.

I don't dare watch it. I'm 20 and I've already internally held the funeral for my "love life". All a show like that could do is stir up emotions that I don't want.

I'm like that as well. I am the same way with music. I accidentally discover many things because of just walking around such a diverse place or music through commercials.

But most of my viewing is done as a group of special interest things.

1.) Huge collection of Hong Kong movies from their 'screwball comedy' heyday of the 80s and 90s. I don't know why, but I get them.
1.a.) Chinese movies in general that entertain a certain theme. Redemption, creation through destruction would be a couple. And I also follow certain actors. Will watch anything with Donny Chen in it.

2.) Science fiction in general, specific shows definitely. Will break out my Firefly TV and movie collection every now and then.

3.) Three main channels are: History, Science, NatGeo. After that it's PBS for other documentary type things

4.) Reruns, reruns, reruns of favorite shows.

All of which leads zkydz to be a very, very boring person.....

True, the outcome is inevitable.

The only thing I didn't like about the documentary was the David & Lindsey segments. Lindsey understands a lot about Dave, but I think the cameras get in the way of creating natural dialog between them, so somewhere to the end you can see how that happen, it's lags for a long time throughout the film. Maybe it would've been best to leave the camera out sometimes.

I watched it recently and I am now more sure then ever that marrying someone else with autism is a good idea.
