So there's this company that offers live captioning for autistic students, like subtitles for school lessons.

I can't quite get my head around the concept. I never wanted anything like this when I was in school, although it would have been very useful for remembering cooking instructions for home economics.

What do the people here make of it?

Well subtitles help me when watching a movie.
But I often have to rewind and pause because I read so slowly :P

In my school which is for asd kids, most teachers give us an outline of what is being taught to help us follow along.
Which is similar to that captioning thing I guess.

well although i found it really kind of difficult to follow along sometimes but not to the point where it prevented me from getting my grades, it would have helped in english lessons, as i found it hard to understand, we did shakespeare and we had to watch macbeth, this would have been really good if we had this for macbeth and stuff, because we had to translate the meaning behind scenes within it, but of course that requires the ability to understand what on earths going on in the first place and harder still to decipher the meaning of them, if we had those subtitles for that, maybe i could have had better course work rather then just being carried through it by a Teaching assistant.

Damn, thats pretty awesome. I'd definitely make use of that if I had it. Be good to have for every aspect of life. It'll free up energy to tackle coping. Pretty clever how it filters out all the unimportant stuff, but I wonder how effective it is, and whether it will filter out things which would've actually been beneficial to hear/read.
