Does anyone experience a great difficulty when trying to sleep in summer? I barely never sleep enough when it's warm outside.
How is it possible to make it cooler without actually adjusting the temperature? (my dad doesn't want to change the overall temperature of my room)
My body can't take the heat and I'll just be awake all night.
My weighed blanket doesn't make the situation much better...

I'm the same way, between the heat and the light. Why does your father have a strong opinion on the temperature of your room?

I prefer cool temperature when I sleep. When it's warm I either don't sleep or if I do I'm not well rested.

Here's what I do to reliably fall asleep fast: I run hot water over my feet just before going to bed. Then with hot feet I go to bed. If it's warm in the room I will only put the sheet/blanket over my feet and leave the rest of me uncovered. Once I feel cold I will pull the sheet/blanket over myself and sleep the rest of the night.

I struggle with Seasonal Affective Disorder during the summer. I also get S.A.D. during the winter. I much prefer the weather during the months around the equinoxes.

I think most people find hot summer nights unbearable when trying to sleep.

Try putting an ice pack next to your feet, or inside your pillowcase near your head.

How about air-conditioning?

When I was younger, without air-conditioning, I used to get hives from the heat.

Perhaps you could put a medium-sized fan in the furthest end of your room. Sometimes just a little breeze it enough to make you feel a little cool. The weighted blanket will definitely make you too warm. What works for me is a sheet and a semi-heavy bedspread or blanket, with enough sheet exposed to let the fan air through. There are many fans out there that can achieve this in the lowest setting without too much noise.

A white noise machine can also help. You could also have something on your window that will block out the sun, forget what it is called.

Use thicker blankets or curtains or layer several curtains together to block out the amount of sunlight that can go through your windows. I also find that my place seems to feel cooler for whatever reason when I have an air-purifier running (with Ionizer or Ozone-Generator settings activated... although that could just be my imagination).

Dad doesn't sound like he's listening. Get his attention and explain the problem again and that lack of sleep is very unhealthy and can/will cause other problems. If he doesn't respond, change it yourself.

Blackout/thermal curtains. Also helps block any drafts that might be coming in around the window.

Vornado fans are awesome, can be a little pricey but definitely worth it in my opinion. I got one of the little retro style fans and it is really powerful.

I have more trouble when I sleep in the summer too because I sleep better when I'm cold. The chills relax me.
