Songs that resonate with you AS-wise

I can think of a few...

1) "How Soon is Now" - by The Smiths - this haunting ballad (or soliloquy?) from the 1980s eerily strikes me as a young guy with Aspergers. It rang in my head of my own cumulative life experience at the age of 26 (several years after the song came out) and prompted me to get my real diagnosis soon after (previously ADHD...what else).

2) "Hide in your Shell" by Supertramp

3) "Hey Jude" (I don't have to tell you the band...)

4) "Lonesome Loser" by the Little River Band (Aussie band from the 1970s)

These may be odd ones, and not really what you are looking for, because they represent my view of my daughter (which is my direct connection to autism).

There are some songs I feel I can relate to, either from my past or my present. It also depends on my mood. Here a few:
"My Perogative" by Bobby Brown -- This song got me through some bad times in grade school, in the '80s. The other kids used to pick on me a lot, and I wished they would have just left me alone. So what if I was "different"?! I didn't need their approval!
"Hold On" by Wilson Phillips -- This is another song that got me through some rough times in junior high, in the early '90s, when I got teased a lot. It reminded me that no matter how bad things got, they could only get better.
"I'm Still Standing" by Elton John -- This is my "I-can-do-it" song (one of them, anyway). It's also a great workout song!
"My Life" by Billy Joel -- Not only did I grow up listening to this song (it was the theme song to "Bosom Buddies"), it's also a motivational song.
"Express Yourself" by Madonna -- Another terrific motivational song!

Titanium by David Guetta seems to be about an autistic/aspie child who is misunderstood and hunted down as a threat to society. Yeah, this definitely resonates.

Yeah, I can hear that in there. As the OP, I just wanted to point out that the songs that "resonate" meant those that suggested a person with Aspergers, not motivational songs a-la Eye of the Tiger and Livin on a Prayer. In other words, songs that sound eerily like they were written b/c the artist thought of somebody who was Asperger-like (I say Asperger-like, b/c back in past decades, nobody knew what Aspergers was).

Maybe like Pearl Jam's "Jeremy" - I always thought this was about a boy with autism.

Still I appreciate the contribs of other posters on feel-good songs like "My Life" and what not, don't get me wrong. And I'm not pointing out the more sombre songs as a way of getting anyone down, but just makes you stop and think "hmmm...sounds like the artist is talking about somebody on the spectrum..."

I agree...I think Jeremy was about someone with autism, too.

Even though neither of the songs I posted are sombre, I didn't include them simply to be uplifting. The Blind Melon lyrics alone probably wouldn't have resonated with me (well "I like watching the puddles gather rain" seems sensory to me and "all I can do is read a book to stay awake, and it rips my life away but it's a great escape" could refer to a special interest), but when coupled with the video...the bee is my daughter, and truthfully also my son.

And the Natalie Merchant song "People see me as a challenge to your balance. I'm over your heads how I confound you and astound you to know I must be one of the wonders of Gods own creation...I believe Fate smiled and Destiny laughed as she came to my cradle "Know this child will be able" Laughed as she came to my mother "Know this child will not suffer" Laughed as my body she lifted "Know this child will be gifted with love, with patience, and with faith.
