I find it more distracting than anything, not offensive though.

I'd say, as a general rule - if you have to ask a question like that, to even yourself - the asnwer is yes.

I've seen more offensive avatars. There was a guy who was on WP (and banned partly for his avatar), and his avatar depicted a certain part of the female anatomy.
