Part of ASD?
Like today I was working in class I suddenly thought it's a good idea if I climbed out the window, like just suddenly stop working and climb out the window without telling anyone. I know logically it's not a good idea but I had desire to do so. I looked at the window and it was not possible for me to climb out but had the window opened more I might have done it. It's like it wasn't my idea but it was outside my control. I know that ain't true.
I've always got feelings like this a few times a year. Starts off were I feel strange but I can't explain it and then I feel I should do something often like go into a lake or in front of a car but I don't feel suicidal or anything. It's just random but I feel positive towards whatever idea is on my head even though I know logically it's not a good thing. I wonder is this part of ASD? I've spoke to Dr about best I can but I am not sick physically or mentally and why is it always something dangerous? I dont feel afraid either. Why do I feel like the thought was put into my mind even though that's impossible?
These things are temporary and don't last long so when I spoke to professionals about it I'm always back to normal. I still control myself so I likely won't act upon it but the desire to act upon it is pretty strong and I'm confused why. Do you reckon it is possible to control a person's thoughts?
I read years ago that this is a normal thing that everyone experiences. I can't remember the reason that was explained in the book, though.
I certainly get it occasionally. Usually it's "I could just swerve this car into oncoming traffic", which again I would never do and have absolutely no desire to do, but it does feel like you 'need' to do it, even though you're in control.
The book said that it's common for people standing on the edge of cliffs to think "I could jump now". I've not stood on the edge of cliffs enough to have experienced that one!

Maybe so. Maybe people think things like that always but it's not noticed?
Yeah, this is a normal thing for people info general, it's only abnormal if it gets to the point it distress you, or you act on it.

Often it's things like spontaneously leaving home and moving some place far away, I did that once. Most often it's that but I haven't felt to do that in a while.
Sitting at the bottom on a lake, one time wanted to jump off the side of castle wall into the moat. One time just wanted to climb a certain fence.
When I was a young teenager it was running into specifically buses but of course I never did it cos I wouldn't be here if I did.
I think the only common trait all have is I want to drop everything I'm currently doing and just do the new thing even if it's detrimental to me.
That sounds impulsive and impuslive isn't even listed as a ASD symptom. It's been listed for ADHD, Bipolar, ASPD. I used to be impulsive when I was a kid. I just get an idea in my head and do it without thinking of any consequences. One time I thought it would be a good idea to mess with my dad's clutch in his Honda Accord to make the car roll out of the garage. My dad saw his car going down our drive way and out in the street to the neighbor's yard and he shouted "Oh no" and rushed out there and then my mom yelled at me about it saying the car could have crashed into the neighbor's house leaving damage and wrecking the car. I never did it again. I was in 6th grade. Another time I messed with my Dad's clutch in his Toyota Camry and the car moved and went into a trench off the driveway and the guy whose house my dad was appraising had to have him pull the car out of there with his truck. Luckily the car wasn't wrecked. I did not learn from my other mistake because I didn't generalize. But I have none of the conditions I listed but I have been diagnosed with ADD as a kid.

I have thoughts like this, but have always understood them as feelings and not things I really want to do. As others said, I think they're mostly thoughts that just occur. They're not necessarily related to stress, I mean. Perhaps it's just a way your mind understands a situation (i.e. "I could do ____") while daydreaming. It feels like a daydreaming way of processing what you're experiencing.
