This is true for me, too.

Yes I've made catalogues of my VCR tape collection, my own original music recordings, and my life history. I'd like a catalogue of my vinyl / cassette / CD collection too, and one of my DVDs and digital movies. I feel it's the only way to keep track of the things of the same type I accumulate, once the numbers get large. So it's a very practical thing, though I do rather like the process of repetitively typing in the data. Main problem is that none of my catalogues are complete - I'm aware of the downside of spending the rest of my life making them complete when there are other things I want / need to do, and even when I get a catalogue complete, as time goes by more items arrive that should be added to the system. I'd be a great librarian, as long the library didn't lend the books out, lose them, or acquire new ones. Collections just don't stay still.

I do this with my stories I write, I do this with my video games, books, movies, shopkins but with kids now it's hard to do because they keep messing the order up so no point. I will just drive myself crazy and get anxiety over it if I care too much about it. But then I feel chaotic about it but oh well. I just like things to be organized. I do have my CDs organized though and my PS games and Dreamcast, all in the drawer. I do have my bookmarks catalogized too so it's easier to look through my bookmarks to find pages.

Yes. My life probably would have been better had I gone to library school.
