What do you do when your seemingly perfect day got ruined?

I woke up today great and it seemed to me it was a perfect day for me to get things done. I was about to join my family outside to do some things like buying items needed for the week. But it all changed due to a number of factors and I can't function well afterwards.

The factors include:
1. Sudden increase in humidity.
2. My parents suddenly argued over things. I hate the sound it makes when people are arguing.
3. I know that my dad is lying again.
4. I realized that I hate the sound of my dad's voice when he gets perked up and increased the intonation of his voice. I wish that I had earplugs at that time.
5. I realized that I don't like what I've eaten this morning.

So what do you do to counter all these things when your day got ruined suddenly and would like to function very well for the rest of the day?

Btw, talking to my dad is not an option since he's a close-minded person. If I confront him, I would end up arguing with him and getting upset much more.

Go off on your own, and away from your parents, after helping them out with essential things like shopping for the week.

I tend to have a good cry, stim and maybe a bottle of wine though I know the wine's not the best coping strategy.

Thinking you're going to have a perfect day in the first place can be a bit dangerous. I'm trying to go with the flow more as things don't tend to work out as good as I think they will. It's not easy though as I like to have a mental picture of how my day is going to go. But if you don't have expectations then the good stuff is a bonus.

I cry into a hanky and than I watch my Hogan's Heroes DVDs. I go on the Internet and work on my art afterwards.

I often try to sleep it off to get past the burnout and see how I feel when I wake up. I'll also try to absorb myself in my interests for the rest of the day, that usually gets me through it.

I just keep right on going, for the most part. Pick myself up and continue. However, a good coping mechanism for me is to be around friends or family so I can talk through it with them, or just feel secure. Being alone tends to make things snowball and I end up very depressed.

The other thing I do (especially if I do have to be alone) is find work to do. I'll clean, run errands, and do other things that require my attention and create a sense of progress. I mean, sure things didn't go as planned but hey! My apartment is really clean! That feels better!
