Unlike a tantrum, an autistic meltdown is something that happens involuntarily and is uncontrollable. I talked online with someone who has frequent epileptic seizures, comparing them to my sudden onset shutdowns and meltdowns and they seem similar. After all both are related to neurology and we both see a neurologist on a regular basis.
As to the original question, I can get overloaded from experiencing too much annoyance and frustration, which can trigger a meltdown.
Thanks, i know what it is, i've been here on the forum since 2009 and read plenty of threads on the subject. Do not assume that everyone on the spectrum gets "meltdowns" or "shutdowns".
