I got myself overthinking. Probably because I am annoyed with the Autism community I am a part of. We have one group here representing people with Autism here. And most of them are parents with children on the spectrum, who dismiss and make the Adults on the spectrum.

So I guess I am just tired of anything about Autism being saturated in the language of Children. There's a Fox Article about how Google Glasses can help CHILDREN with Autism.

Why does the article title have to be Children, specifically? Why can't it say People with Autism.

A lot of the programs for service animals where I live use Children in their language. Why can they not say People with Autism? Why is everything in the language saturated with the use of Children? Children with Autism become Adults with Autism. So, why can we not use the term People, which includes children, woman, and men? Instead of a singularly used term that shuts out others.

I just want a more inclusive language. It's like the Adults on the spectrum, and I'm only 26, don't exist. And when you're considered having a high IQ like I do I am dismissed as just not trying hard enough to not be disabled or Autistic.

Either way though, I'd like a Noun change. Stop focusing so much on children. Sheesh.

Honestly, I think a lot of people think of autistic adults as being a "lost cause". They focus on children because they're convinced that at that stage of things, they can somehow "cure" it.

Which is sad because I am not a lost cause. With help and support, gee I think I could be....IDK....not a lost cause. What a concept, if you help people, and give them the services and help they need. They *gasp* become better. Wut.

In all seriousness though, that's a really sad thought to consider, though I am sure there's a lot of truth in that

Maybe it's a marketing thing. Like with Google Glasses, figuring parents of autistic kids are more likely to buy them based on that notion. But I completely agree with you.

The Google glasses was just an example, I didn't mean specifically anything about them beside an example.

The point I was making is a lot of :

-Media focuses on Children with Autism
-My support group focuses on Children with Autism, despite it had been clearly made for everyone
