I'm not well,

I've not been well for a while now.

It's been building up and building up.

My head aches all the f*****g time and I feel like I'm on the brink of a breakdown.

What do I do? What do I do?

You take care of yourself. That's what you do. The first thing with headaches is dehydration. Make sure you are drinking enough water. That, at least, is free.

Acupuncture can help with that kind of thing. If you need an affordable acupuncturist, google "community acupuncture."

Sorry to hear about this.

Have you seen a doctor?

If you drink alcohol that could be dehydrating you and causing headaches.

Thank you for the tips.

I think the headache is more to do with me over thinking things. I've had a lot on my mind and it's turned into obsessive thoughts.

I tried taking my mind off it all today by coming on WP and I did quite a lot of housework this morning.

It helped a bit but the thoughts are still there.

I've not seen my doctor about this because I find it hard to verbalise what is happening.

As for alcohol, I haven't had a drink for months. I stopped that because it caused paranoia and anxiety but then I feel like having a drink sometimes to just stop me thinking. But I know it wont really help.

I hope I do as well.

Thank you.

I keep saying that I'll book a week off work but I really like being there when I get there and all plans of a break seem to just go out of the window.

But I do think it would help if I got a rest.

Good for you for quitting alcohol, since you found that it was no good. The thing is, if you've started getting headaches, and especially if they don't go away, it could really help to write it out and see the doctor. They can run tests to rule out anything serious, and they can treat for migraine or tension headaches, or whatever you have. Headaches can also be side effects from medications. I hope you feel better soon.

I agree that it'd be good to see the doctor. There could've something physically wrong with you.

I hope you feel better all around soon.

I think it could be tension. I keep going over and over things in my head. I get aggressive as well sometimes and because I have no outlet it just stays there festering away.

I feel a bit better for talking about it though so thanks everyone.

Oops, I've just replied to this thread but can't find my post, so God only knows where its gone.

Maybe you need a mood stabiliser? I take one every now and then when my mind runs riot and won't slow down. Worth seeing your doc.

Well, I am on Mirtazapine and I cut them down to half the dose I was on. Maybe it could be that. I never thought about it before.

Ever try massage therapy? May help relieve your stress and help with your headaches. It has helped me in the past. Hope you are able to find some time for yourself to relax and unwind.

I hope your headaches diminish, soon, babybird. I'm glad you're feeling a bit better by talking.

Yes, definitely do take a vacation, babybird!

I just took a week's vacation and only traveled close to home,
spent two nights at a Bed & Breakfast in Amish Country
which is only a short drive for me,
then spent the rest of the time hanging around my apartment
(well, made a few trips out to attend
an art show I was in,
a painting class,
and a different art show where I walked around and enjoyed the work of other artists)
and going to restaurants for meals
instead of cooking and doing dishes.

It was all super relaxing, especially walking around in Amish Country,
going birdwatching and watching the sunset
while hearing and seeing horses and buggies go clip-clopping down the road.

Like Noca suggests,
massages are also a very good thing.

Also, magnesium can help ...
either get more in your diet,
(I like sushi)
or soak in an Epsom salt bath,
or put a mixture of Epsom salts and water on your face / temples
(but please don't get any in your eyes ... that stings really bad.)
