I'm not obsessed with it, but I bear it in mind.

I'm obsessed with my video games :P

I'm obsessed with it at the moment because i was only recently diagnosed and i have never considered myself the least bit aspie , but I am finding I do have many things in common with the people here.

Oh yeah. Took me three years to accept my diagnoses. When I started reading about it, it explained to me why I had outside interests and why I had troubles having friends and why my memory was good and why I was able to remember facts I read that I'm interested in. It also explained why I had obsessions and I thought don't all kids have obsessions and I also thought doesn't everyone interrupt. When I read in my records my school wrote about me were aspie traits. I was very clumsy in balance, sensitive to touch, had poor social skills, and I read in my report cards I don’t follow the rules very well.
If it turns out I was never on the spectrum, it might be hard for me to accept I don’t have it because first it took me three years to accept who I am and then I’d have to accept that I don’t have it and feel I don’t fit in anywhere all over again.

Yes...I was obsessed with OCD when I was diagnosed, I was obsessed with genealogy once I got a few family names and dates, and now that I've figured out I have AS I've been obsessed with that too. Wonder what'll come next?

nope. For some reason, I have really never obsessed over having AS like trying to find out more about. If I have obsessed over AS, it was over trying to found help with living with AS not what AS is.

yes- now that i know i constantly look up info on it and look for newest research, studies, theories. In fact, just last night I found and was reading this:

Autism: A Unique Form of Mercury Poisoning

I spent a couple of hours reading and analyzing, forming my own opinion and looking for additional viewpoints, studies, etc, etc.

I've been kind of obsessed with it this past month, but I'm losing that (though I still do want an official diagnosis). I'm finally considering changing my status to AS-undiagnosed too.

Newaspie, do you know generally what that article said? I was under the impression the Mercury thing had been ruled out, but then, getting mercury in vaccines doesn't sound like a real great idea! I know Bobby Kennedy thinks there's a real connection there (and I guess also a correlation with how close people are to coal plants, which produce mercury too).

Getting pretty close. I'd like to understand the genetics more.
