As a child I had very strong OCD traits. They seemed to "control" me. They diminished around age 21-23. But if I would watch rain fall on a window, I would feel "controlled" by the direction particular drops ran. I also had to have the bath mat be a particular way or I would feel like I was doomed. I had counting rituals, math rituals, orders that things had to be done in, etc.. I felt "controlled" by all this throughout childhood and as a teenager. It lessened once I got into my 20s.

I have alot of Rituals like washing my hands and compulsive thoughts. It is interesting though, my compulsivness is really effected By my anxiety, which I seem to have a lot of.

I've had OCD traits since I was about 8 from what I remember, they got worse when I was around 13/14.
I have counting rituals and orders too.

I used to have to kiss the walls in my room and stuff like that. And touching tiles, stepping on every stone, and having to get up all the steps before the house door shuts...

I wash my hands 3 or 4 times a day, but I could stop doing that at anytime and just trust my immune system. However, as long as I am sticking my hands in the roast beef, they may as well be clean.

I don't have any other rituals that must be done, other than waking up.

ha ha ha. I would lick and smell random objects and toys. I still do.
I remember I got excited over something and my roommate had to keep me from licking the buss stop.

I had a lot when I was a child, a lot more in my teens, and now, just a few.

I used to sync my steps to floor tiles, sidewalk cracks, or my stride had to be a
certain length or pace. Weird. I thought I was the only like that until I saw this

Every night before I go to bed, my hands have to be clean. I have to wash them until I'm satisfied.

I used to have full-blown OCD. It was horrible. I take medicine for it now so it's better.

I used to be in this band, and after every song we practiced I HAD to go to the bathroom..even if it was to just doodle on my pencil graffiti wall and then do a lap around the hallway..

I'm diagnosed with obsessive compulsive disorder, but I don't really buy it.

I got the diagnosis when I was about 8. My mom decided that I was doing weird things like only doing homework in a certain place and stuff. She took me to see someone and they said I had OCD. Now that I'm older and have read about it, I don't understand where it came from. In order to give the diagnosis, the obsessions and compulsions have to be distressing which, as far as I remember, they were not. The things I do now still don't bother me. They're just things I do, you know?

Except when sleeping, I always wear shoes no matter where I am or what I'm doing. Not because I'm terrified of something bad happening if I don't, I just like the feeling of shoes. I might be missing something, but I'm not seeing the OCD there.

Know what I mean?

I was diagnosed with OCD (before AS was really even a diagnosis). I listed my weird things in another thread. Basically I used to like things to be "even" in multiples of 2 (4's better) and stuff like that, though that's massively lessened in my 20's. I also like keeping "clean", and use hand sanitizer after shaking someone's hand or things like that (except for close relatives...or my poodle :D ).

It's definitely connected to stress and anxiety. If my stress level goes up, the symptoms get worse (and I start pacing, sometimes almost hyperventilating, etc.). Unfortunatly I almost always have a background anxiety level I can't get rid of.

I was put on a drug for OCD as a teenager, but went off it after a few years-it had no effect one way or the other on OCD symptoms.
