Hi, I am in my 30s and I am really having trouble sleeping. If I sleep well I feel okay and happy :D and if I don't I feel achy, sad, tired, and awful. :( I was reading up on hammocks last night. Does anyone sleep in one? What kind did you get?

Thanks!

I would imagine that one would have to get used to sleeping in a hammock. However, once you get used to it, I imagine they would be good--because they adjust to your specific bodily contours.

Surprisingly, I seem to sleep best on couches which have a firm back, especially when the "back" is on the right side of me.

I also like sleeping with the windows open, so I can get a breeze and hear the various animals of the Night.

I've never actually slept in a hammock, but I did have one for years. I used it all the time. They are really comfortable and easy to rest in.

lol. This sounds nice! But I would watch out for your back. Its a recipe for back pain. If you do get a hammock, make sure you at least get one that allows for you to sleep diagonally, like a camping hammock. That way, you'll at least be a bit closer to flat while you sleep.

I had during my youth. I had fun hiding in a hammock made of blankets (you had to be light and small). Been on a hammock made of net. And been one on a hammock made of wood. It was common here back then, I don't know about now.

And I would like to make one myself.

I tried looking into this a couple of years ago; Family Of Origin pressure that it was too weird and lack of finding a suitable offering anywhere on the web caused me to move on. @Kraftie I also enjoy having the windows open

I live in the desert, and slept outside, for 9 months, before.

I found that the simplest, $5 hammock, of nylon cordage, could fit in pocket and hold my heavy bodyweight, but eventually got sun damaged.

I have since had the chance to use ones held open with a wooden spreader board, on pipe contraptions, with high weight ratings, because they were meant for two people. But, it seems that, the more complicated it is, the more worries, the more it is prone to malfunctions.

I like this, because I get really hot, with may back to a chair or a mattress. The hammock made of netting allows air to move around me.
