When I listen to my iPod on the bus, I keep getting very distracted with thoughts and what's going on around me, and my music is playing away through my earphones and I become completely distant to it. I try to shut off my thoughts and just listen to the songs, but it's so hard. My mind keeps on chattering away, and I go into a daydream as the bus is moving along. I often find myself having to restart a song because I wasn't listening, but I still get lost in my thoughts, and suddenly the song is coming to an end again.

Does anyone else with AS or ADHD have this problem?

Yeah, I often zone out while listening to music. Especially if the music doesn't have lyrics.

I often zone out if the music has lyrics. Instrumental music turns me on.

Yes, I do this too sometimes. I just listen to music. Then I suddenly get distracted by a lot of thoughts and I have to turn off the music.

Music almost always makes me zone out. It happens quite a bit at other times too, though.
