I do not allow my sense of self worth to be dictated by others.

There is no place in my life for toxic people.

Ain't nobody got time for that!

Mostly. People are generally nice to me, but I do wish they would be more understanding of my meltdowns.

Even if I feel acceptance, there's no belonging.
I still feel like a misplaced oddity no matter what others' opinion or treatment might be.

I have not been Dx so my answer may not hold creedance.

The only times I've felt acceptance I believe that I was trying really hard to act like someone I wasn't ( be social , happy , act like the "social norm" etc)

For you to even write that means some pretty sh***y attitudes have been flung your way.
For me, I have no idea what acceptance actually is, so I don't have a frame of reference to judge yes or no.

I feel "accepted" when it is convenient for the other person, usually. When it is convenient for a person to "reject" me, they do so.

I used to feel "rejected" on a constant basis.

Now, I realize that I have to gain my own "acceptance." I have to accommodate myself to others, and I also believe others have to accommodate for me.

Possibly but nothing I've clung too. I just meant as I haven't been Dx with ASD I could be an NT therefore my answer has no relevance.

It DOES have relevance. Because you are a person who is either accepted or rejected.

Your "autism status" has nothing to do with it.

I thought as this is an Autism discussion board all questions are asked (unless it specifys differently ) to fellow ASD sufferers to guage similarities or not , or for advice on how you deal with things. I'm not sure an NT's view is relevant unless you specifically want that view.

Yes, I feel accepted, but to be fair, I'm surrounded by weirdos with bigger problems than my own. The crazies end up at overnight retail stores.
