Ever see a picture or a message that really "isn't there" in things? Such as, seeing the 'man on the moon' or seeing a message in a brick wall due to the way the cracks connect, ect.

I was in the bathroom and I looked up at our shower curtain and saw a face due to the way the curtain curved and its shading. Wish I could have taken a picture.

I also used to see objects and messages in carpets and blankets and wall's, ect.

I used to lay in bed and make faces and shapes out of cracks and irregularities on the ceiling. I still do it sometimes. Maybe it's that AS need to make everything into a pattern or fit into something discernable.

I usually make patterns out of ceiling tiles or brick walls when I'm bored or when someone is lecturing me. But if I'm occupied with something else I usually don't notice.

I see "things" in clouds or random patterns that are on tiles or brickwork.
Any one who has ever been to a "shrink" will remember seeing these:

I love patterns. I spend hours making them. Here's one of mine:

I don't remember if I was or wasn't, I was tested on once when I was five/six.
Who the hell gives a five year old IQ tests? I don't know. Maybe this is typical?
I remember parts of it but I can't remember my end result, it probably wasn't as great as it could have been since I never trusted psych's I'd never really show my 'true potential' and held a lot of myself back since the first intellectual memory I remember. From there I was thrown into someone else's household and nothing carried any further, maybe it was proven that i was psychotic? LOL.

I think I may have, I have a slight memory of them but it could have been that I had an obsession with them when I was younger.

By the way scrulie, great job.

I sort of got a double dose of the pattern thing, what with also being left handed. Generally, left handed people process images differantly and notice patterns others don't. Couple this with aspergers and.. ugh!

I tend to see patterns and pictures in just about anything, that is why similarities tend to stand out more
than differences.
Recently on two other threads patterns and tilings came up for discussion:

I love weird patterns...that is also why i like quilts so much....unfortunately i lack the attention span to make really elaborate patterns....I only make bizarre absrtact crazy quilts....but i get mesmerised by staring at the complex patterned ones...

um....oh yeah..and I painted my kitchen ceiling tiles in this nutzo pattern...pink black yellow black blue black pink black yellow black blue black..

and whenever my notebooks were confiscated I would zone out on the ceiling tiles in class...

If you have time on your hands, get some colored pencils and graph paper, and try these out:

Ah! But richie, you haven't listed "Penrose tiling"! (At the bottom of which, there's a picture of a Penrose tiled real floor!)

when I see wallpaper, I'll look around to see if the seam lines up properly or not, and point out usually if someone hasn't done it right, or has it upside down >.< Same with tiles and such. When I look at textured patterns, I'll come up with a small scenario if I find a blob that looks like a person, and try to figure out what he could be doing with the others.

Thanks guys who liked my pattern! I do them on photoshop. It's a mixture of drawing on paper, scanning, fiddling and rotating, printing, drawing again, scanning again etc etc.....
