I liked that. I really liked how it's in part a debunking of some autistic attitudes too. After all you've correctly pointed out that two of the oft repeated mantras of autism apply equally to nautistic people as well. Well done.

Quote:
1. Neurotypicality is a spectrum condition it can vary greatly all the way from a person who needs to socialise all the time and can’t stand being alone even for 5 minutes right up to a shy quiet person.

2. NT’s are different from one another when you have met one NT you have met one NT everyone is an individual. No two with the condition are the same. Everyone is unique in their own beautiful way.

Not all non-autistics are neurotypical.

Not only do NTs really hate clothes to be creased, but they will eagerly walk up to you to un-crease them, even if this person is a complete stranger and doesn't know about your sensitivity to being touched or having your personal space invaded. One time last winter a lady came right up to me just to pull out the point on the color of my jacket which was under my purse strap. Apparently just seeing me walking around with it stuck under my strap had thrown the entire world out of balance. :P

Could I suggest the term "allistic" in place of "NTistic" in your warning section? I think it may be the more accepted term for those "off the spectrum". :)

PS- Loved the list! Especially the bits that apply to both "parties".

I particularly liked this one:

"10. NT’s can be very Obsessive and rule-based. For example they may believe no-one should wear shirts that are creased. They may even be obsessive about the way you hold a knife and fork insisting it has to be a set way."

because it really annoys me that NTs will say that autistic people get stuck in routines and rituals that (to them) have no function, when they themselves have plenty of pointless rituals they get really uptight about not being performed right or not at all. It does the same thing for both groups, add a feeling of safety in their lives while having no practical function. The double standard in them doing the same things just in different ways yet not seeing that it is the same thing just different need irks me.
Yes, I know the article was tongue in cheek, but that one represented something that has bothered me for a very long time.

Number 6 was funny!

Good list, AlexWelshman :)

This seems pretty much like black culture vs white culture comedy. Or gay vs straight. Or atheist vs religious.

And could this be done with dyspraxia as well? And what would the non-dyspraxic be called?

Or what about ADHD vs non-ADHD?

(I also have severe dyspraxia along with ADHD)

Just stick to NTs, because there are other neurotypes that may not fit those NT things in the list.

Nice.

I think that neurotypicality is caused by vaccines myself.
