The most problematic ones for me is the social anxiety and trouble making friends. Maybe special interests are an issue too, but loud noise and bright lights don't usually bother me.

Social awkwardness
Anxiety
Overwhelming empathy
Hypersensitive to others thoughts and feelings
Highly emotional

Not sure these are supposed to be AS core traits but it's what I have.

Yes, the aspien empath is a known sub-category, which is why people (neurotypical and aspien) get so confused, we have to remember this is all a spectrum

i don't think any of those items is consistently problematic for me, and most of them are never particularly problematic. but then again that's why i usually avoid the word "asperger's" (or even autism), and i tend to identify more with adhd and schizoid personality disorder instead. my issues are more directly related to sensory and emotional integration, and are also more inconsistent and unpredictable, which demands isolation more than routine. but i'm not shy, and i don't usually have trouble with body language or eye contact or figurative language. i also don't have any discernible special interest, even though i can be pretty obsessive about some things sometimes

the ones that came to mind for me:

* Special interests that I would never want to be without (regardless of how "useless" they are to society)
* Have had obsessions, especially at the ages of 9 - early 30's and enjoyed it very much
* Have a very hard time focusing on things that are uninteresting or boring
* Can't multitask
* Very limited to no eye contact
* Aloof and asocial; social anhedonia; never took interest in peers or making friends
* Seldom has much to say
* Less able than the norm to read body language, but never been entirely blind; pay little attention to my own though
* Can have problems concentrating (more so at adult age), but have also enjoyed hyperfocus (unfortunately more so when I was younger, I wish that still came easily to me)
* Introspective
* Introvert
* the very occasional shutdown
* anxiousness
* easily stressed and overwhelmed
* stomach upsets apparently is a trait and not just a me-thing
* need clear instructions, preferably written
* selective empathy
* good long term memory, poor short term memory

No one mentioned sensitivity to things like clothing tabs, labels, seams etc.

Quote:

I have had "crushes" and "fads" with particular people who I couldn't stop going on about to close relatives of mine. Suppose that counts as obsessions.

Quote:
*No eye contact

I don't have this symptom.

*

Stimming

I don't have this symptom.

Quote:

I don't have this symptom.

Quote:
*Issues with loud noise

Sudden loud noise makes me anxious. If I know a sudden loud noise may occur without warning, I cannot relax at all.

Quote:
*Taking things literally

I don't have this symptom.

Quote:
Needing routine

Not vividly, just one or two things I like to have as part of routine.

Quote:
*Social anxiety/shyness

Yes.

Quote:
*Trouble with making friends

Sort of, yes.

Quote:
*Inability to read body language

I don't have this symptom.

When I saw "- issues with certain textures/tastes" I assumed that you were referring to textures and tastes of food, not tags or labels on clothing.

Oh. I meant all kinds of textures.

My core traits:
- trouble getting friends,
- trouble reading facial expression,
- trouble with phone calls,
- sensory sensitivity,
- trouble understanding speech when there are background sounds,
- stims,
- fear of change,
- hyperfocus,
- intense interests,
- logical thinking,
- not understanding emotions,
- prosopagnosia.

Hmm. We might wait a bit, make unified list of traits and make a survey. Then we get core traits of Asperger - when a lot of people vote we will see which traits are most common.
