Does anyone else feel this? I love the emotions I feel from very dramatic, epic music and emotional music and I tend to play it loud. I feel a shiver down my body and my hair on my arms stick up. I feel very excited when listening to it and I put it on repeat for ages. If I hear a bit I like, I'll rewind it to the place that had the biggest effect on me and listen to it again.

These two tracks in particular cause extreme emotions...excitement for the first track and a weird sadness emotion often resulting in actual crying for the latter track.

I'm weird :)

I only rarely find a song that has an emotional effect on me, but when I do...

It becomes my favorite song for life.

I am the same with music. A lot of music has a very powerful impact on me, but I think I hear it more deeply than most. To my NT husband, a song can be good and a band can be talented, but that's all there is to it. When I listen to music, I hear every note and every slight change of tone in someone's voice, and it all feels very strong.

I'm also a fan of Libera's music, so it was good to see one of their videos in the OP. I'll listen to the other track now.

My partner is the same. He doesn't really feel the emotion in music at all and I can't understand that. I feel music so deeply and it affects me greatly. I think some people miss a lot when they don't feel the music. I find it very therapeutic.

I find myself to be somewhat sensitive to music, it can certainly hit me emotionally and I have certainly had the sensation of shiver and my hair sticking up when I hear something particularly feeling evoking. A lot of times I don't dislike being able to feel music like that...however the downside is if it's music I really don't like, it can actually be painful to listen to. Like Twangy modern country music, most pop music of the 90's to now and other assorted thing's I've heard.

I think being locked in a room with only that kind of music would be one of the worst forms of torture imaginable.

I get that a lot. A lot of modern 'chart' music really hurts my ears and actually makes me feel anger or anxiety...

and, I also hate bagpipes :)

As a musician that has played in mostly doom metal bands and someone that has dealt with a lot of depression over the years, this topic has always fascinated me. So much that I actually wrote a paper on it in school. When looked at from an evolutionary perspective I have found it to be even more fascinating, but it makes sense. For anyone who might be interested in reading the paper you may do so here Emotions In Music

(Thank you for the help whatamievendoing

Here are two songs taken from "Of Empires Forlorn" an album that I recorded when I was the drummer of While Heaven Wept.

"Soulsadness"

"Voice in the Wind" (a song that was originally done by the German progressive rock band Jane. This song is so emotional)

If you like these two songs and would like to hear the rest of the album it is available in a lot of the streaming services.

If anyone knows how to add a PDF file I would welcome your input on how to do it. Thanks. Kind Regards. Shark

Music for me is extremely emotional, though its not always the song itself, but rather intense associations I have that evoke emotion.

There are a few dozen songs that almost always make me cry. Generally only negative emotions are attached to music for me, as the vast majority of what i like musically is angry or depressed....

Im not sure if music can actuallu make me happy, ive tried expanding my tastes lately and have found some auccess in music brining a little moment of not wanting to kill yourselfness.

You could just upload it to a file sharing service like Dropbox and post the link. Good thing about Dropbox especially is that you can choose who can view the file.

Its a sensitivity to high pitched noises. Quite sad really. Im scottish and i hate bagpipes. I love the flute tho. I remember when i worked in Prague, i was in my apartment. At about 3 in the morning, it was very quiet. I heard someone playing a tin whistle. He was on his own and it was so quiet. All i could hear was this guy playing his tin whistle. I could tell he had a love of music. Prague is normally quite a busy place but it was quiet then and all i could hear was this beautiful music from this guys tin whistle reverbing around the place. I felt it was just him and me :)

I love the Czechs :)

I find that music triggers my emotions more readily than most other mediums, usually with more clarity too. Sometimes I will have a strong emotional response to an event in my life but find it hard to identify which emotion I'm actually feeling. I can use music to sort of manipulate my emotions and give myself a sense of direction when I'm otherwise overwhelmed.

For that reason I have a few particular songs I will use for catharsis. I know a track is going to make me sad, but it's better to get the sadness out than to feel a kind of prolonged malaise. That said I do have one song I absolutely can't listen to. It was the hallmark of a very dark few months in my life and I'm scared if I hear it again, I'll somehow go back there.

This is a great comment. This is exactly what i do. If i want to generate a certain emotion, for example, if i need to cry, i'll put on some music that generates that response. If i feel angry, ill put on some dramatic music that appeals to me at the time and my anger disipates.
