I'm autistic but I am not a picky eater, but I know many of you guys are. My sister has severe autism and she won't eat mushy foods, but her favorite food is COLD HOT DOGS CUT UP WITH GREEN BEANS, and I HATE hot dogs and green beans! And hot dogs and green beans are pretty mushy!

I am an extremely picky eater. There are very few foods I can eat. It's probably my least favorite part of having Asperger's because it keeps me from being able to have a healthy diet.

I am quite a picky eater, although I like to cook so I'm happy to cook anything, just not eat it. I do have an eating disorder though so AS might not be totally responsible. If we go away anywhere then I take my own food/ingredients because otherwise I won't eat, and then I eat in the hotel room while everybody else goes out for a meal. I never used to get to do that, I just got dragged along and suffered through it, but now I'm old enough to advocate for myself so no more restaurant distress for me :D . I find creamy textured foods the worst, sometimes even seeing them or hearing about them makes me gag. If my brother's feeling sadistic he'll eat custard or something while describing it to me, it makes me retch  .

My parents knew how to teach me not to be one.

My mother always described me as a finicky eater. As a child I refused point blank to eat anything green or orange. There are still plenty of foods which I wouldn't eat, even if I were starving to death.

I'm picky due to texture issues and stomach troubles. I eat a lot of noodles and soups, such as Ramen and macaroni and cheese. I can't tolerate lettuce, pickles, onions, or peppers. I have no issue with carrots, I especially love cooked carrots. I also really like pizza and seafood, but sometimes the latter makes me sick, so I limit my consumption of that.

Haha, mine did this too; I still had the sensory discomfort, I just had to get on with it. I did always love vegetables though so I can't have been that annoying to them anyway.

I'll eat pretty much anything but I do have a hatred of blancmange, tapioca, semolina and liver just like anyone else who went to a British school in the 70s.

I'm really intolerant when it comes to mushy foods like jello, eggs, some pastas, and anything else of that nature. I also can't eat bread, fruits and vegetables sometimes.

I can eat pretty much everything (except for some food with texture that very hard to munch or small pieces that go between my teeth and stick to my throat) but I prefer my food to be bite sized and not mixed together(unless it's a mix I found out by myself).
I like checking out new tastes and I am not afraid of trying any food (recently I tried roasted worms, they tasted like roasted chicken skin but had texture of a popcorn which was not pleasant because I dislike popcorn texture) but rarely anything tastes well for me because I am hyposensitive to taste. Therefore there is very few foods that I like and there is a lot of food that I can eat if I have to but it is really boring so I just don't want to.
Aside from the few things I like I am on constant quest of looking for other foods I might like. I will try anything at least once. But if I already tried something a few times and I never found it tasty/interesting to eat I will refuse to eat it unless I am hungry and have no choice.

It's especially visible when I am on holiday - I often refuse to go to restaurant that offers only Polish traditional food because I am too bored with most of Polish food. It is a pain because my dad on the other hand eats nothing but traditional Polish food. Last time we went to Greek restaurant he struggled what to order and was barely able to eat anything while I couldn't get enough of what I got - because they gave me vinegar sauce which made the food nice and sour and the food was separate, just like I like it. Traditional Polish food is sort of tasteless, with unrecognizable texture (expect for hard to munch meat), all mixed together and the only spice they give you is salt and pepper which I dislike.

I have never been a picky eater. The only food I hated when I was a child was lasagna or squash or Mexican food. There are still foods I am not fond of but only because they don't interest me. I also used to hate my food touching and hated sauce on any of my noodles and only likes Velveeta cheese or sprinkled cheese. My husband thinks I am picky but to me a picky eater is just someone who flat out refuses to eat lot of foods or even try it before deciding if they like it or not. I don't dislike lot of foods. But I still will not use bread as hamburger buns or as hotdog buns. I also wouldn't eat a cake because their child put her fingers on it and licked the frosting off and other people at the party were still willing to eat it while I was saying the cake was destroyed. But luckily there was a section on the cake where she didn't put her fingers so I got that part of the cake. The kid was seven so I wondered if she was special needs but no she is "normal."

I'm happy to eat anything as long as it's not re-fried beans, sour cream, processed cheese, cream cheese, cottage cheese, mushrooms or anything with a creamy taste or texture.

I eat the same things everyday. I guess that is being a picky eater is it not?

I'm a very picky eater. It's hard to find things to eat at restaurants.

I used to be extremely picky and would eat basically nothing but chicken, potatoes, and PB&J. But in my early teens or so, I started ordering things like escargot for shock value and just ignoring the "weird" textures. It helped me move past the pickiness, and my palette broadened a ton as I found I actually liked the way many of these foods tasted. Up to and including escargot. I also developed a borderline-addiction to tomato sauce and pasta, no idea how that started since I used to hate the texture of it when I was little.

All that really remains is: I still hate the texture and taste of leafy green vegetables, and will put them to the side if they're on a burger or anything. If they're only in small amounts in a burrito or something, I might try to ignore the texture. I also really can't stand green beans, pickles, or plum sauce. Actually most of my issues are veggie-related, though I like onions, peas, carrots, and milder peppers.
