Back when I was 20 and working as a custodian, I went into the women's bathroom to clean while there were still ladies in it. It didn't even occur to me that it would be considered sexual harassment; I just thought that it was my duty to clean and I'd wait for them to leave. It didn't have any connotations of a sexual nature to me. Also, I'd never heard the law before.

Is this ignorance, a logical deficiency, or an example of an autism spectrum disorder?

That sort of thing is pretty common in autism. The way you described your reasoning at the time is pretty typical.

It's more a "theory of mind" issue. You probably have no issue with an opposite-sex janitor coming in to clean the place as you detach doing a job from any sexual interest. The rest of the world DOES NOT see it this way. Your thought process was logical, but based on a faulty premise.

It's just ignorance of the law, this type of thing is actually the policy in some other countries.
